Trade Show Truss Frequently Asked Questions FAQ

FAQ

Below you will find a list of questions and answers commonly asked about trade show truss and its applications.

Question:

How much does trade show truss weigh?

Answer:

For the most part trade show truss comes in two main styles, triangular and box. Triangular truss consists of three lengths of 2” aluminum tubing with .5” webbing, box truss consists of four lengths of 2” aluminum tubing with .5” webbing.

When it comes to weight, aluminum trade show truss is extremely light and manageable. For example an 8’ length of triangular truss weighs a mere 16 pounds or 2.4384m at 7kg 257.48g. An 8’ length of box truss weighs 24 pounds or 2.4384m at 7kg 886.22g.

Question:

How flexible are truss structures?

Answer:

Aluminum trade show truss is inherently modular by nature. This allows exhibitors the freedom to increase or decrease the size of their trade show booth footprint at any given time simply by adding or removing individual components. In some cases larger trade show booths can be made into two smaller trade show booths increasing potential exposure.

Question:

Can circular truss be manufactured?

Answer:

Many of our customers are looking for custom work or intricate shapes for example circular or radius configurations. These shapes can easily be fabricated but are typically special order as it would be impossible to stock every size and dimension of circular components.

Question:

What about compound junctions and corners?

Answer:

When it comes to corner junctions we stock just about every standard angle possible including two, three and four way configurations.

Question:

How long does it take for a truss trade show booth to ship after I have placed my order?

Answer:

It you purchase a standard size trade show booth, for example a 10×10, 10×20 20×20 etc, shipping will take place either the same day or the next business day. All of our standard components are stocked at all times. For custom booths, the lead-time will be longer but typically does not exceed five working days unless the structure is extremely complicated or large.

Question:

How difficult is it to purchase additional components?

Answer:

When you are looking to add individual components to your existing structure, all you will need to know is the style of truss that you have and what components you require. However keep in mind that you will need to purchase the components from the original manufacturer. Truss purchased from overseas typically is not the same quality, the aluminum is soft and the wall thickness of the tubing is much thinner not only reducing its structural integrity but does not allow for interchangeability.

Question:

What if I want a custom trade show booth?

Answer:

If you want to create a really different appearance for your trade show booth and don’t know where to start, no problem. A simple phone call to VersaTruss will solve all of your problems. Question:

Why does the type of aluminum make such a difference when it comes to trade show truss?

Answer:

Many truss manufactures use cheep aluminum tubing with thin walls or rolled aluminum tubing with a seam. This may slightly reduce the initial purchase price of the truss however as soon as you drop one component and bend the mating flange you will soon understand why these cheaper varieties are less than desirable. VersaTruss only uses structural aluminum in their products. Each truss component consists of 2″ (50 mm) OD X .065″ (1.6 mm) wall  thickness  main chords and .50” webbing.

In addition the span strength is incredibly reduced when thinner wall tubing or tubing with seams is used causing accessorizing to be limited due to weight and span constraints.

Question:

One of the most common questions we hear is:  How does the cost of truss trade show booths compare with other styles of exhibits.

Answer:

Trade show truss offers a unique experience for users that other exhibit systems simply can’t compete with.

First of all, a typical back drop style display will cost in the neighborhood of $1500.00 US which does not include the stand which will add another $250.00

Plastic fold out displays or fabric displays typically start at $1200.00 for an 8’ length.

All of the above options have a couple of common flaws or drawbacks. To start they are not modular, you cannot increase their size nor can you change your display at any given time, your freedom to express yourself is extremely limited. ]

Now when it comes to truss trade show booths, a typical full 10 x 10 triangular truss trade show booth will start at around $2000.00. This structure will not only last for years but will keep its majestic appearance for decades. It offers freedom to accessorize at will and can easily be re-sized at any time.

Question:

Can I use display truss products outside?

Answer:

If your purchase structural aluminum display truss, the elements will not be a concern. Structural aluminum provides an extremely resilient product that can withstand both the hottest and coldest temperatures possible as well; rain, snow and ice will not be an issue.

When it comes to wind, display truss is extremely strong however keep in mind that it is light weight. As long as the truss is anchored properly it will withstand just about any weather conditions that nature can throw at it.

Question:

Can aluminum trade show truss be custom colored?

Answer:

Aluminum truss can easily be custom colored using our powder coating process. The finished product is extremely resilient to weather conditions and rough handling. The process itself is accomplished by etching the aluminum in an acid bath then a powder coating is applied using an electromagnetic process to create an even distribution then baked. This process basically causes the color to become imbedded in the aluminum creating a virtually bulletproof finish.
